Don Samuel & I met in Barrows, Fall 1971; we both ended up moving to Georgia after graduation to work for GA Legal Services Program, the statewide legal aid program. We've been married since 1979; we have four children by birth and five by adoption, sons- and daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren. I've published six books of nonfiction & have been a contributor to THE NEW YORKER, NYTimes, The ATLANTIC, the WASHINGTON POST, and other periodicals. I teach journalism at Agnes Scott College & at Grady College of Journalism of the University of Georgia. Don is a criminal defense attorney who has represented clients over the years from Ray Lewis to the rappers T.I. and Gunna to the Fulton County election workers to a defendant in the Trump trial in Fulton County.
